Description

The Hairpin range fuses American oak veneers and wood with striking hairpin-shaped steel legs to create a functional, yet retro facade. Each piece of furniture has a perfectly balanced profile, that juxtaposes the statement curves against the sleek, polished style of its natural wooden design. This modern bookcase features 5 shelves, each with a 30cm depth. Crafted from durable wood, its sophisticated design highlights the rich, natural grain of the wood, against the black steel hairpin legs. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

The John Lewis & Partners Hairpin Tall Bookcase is a stylish and versatile piece that works well in both contemporary and rustic interiors. I love its slim, ladder-like silhouette which offers a great way to maximise vertical space without feeling bulky. It pairs beautifully with a mix of open storage for books and decorative accessories or can serve as a display for plants and artwork in living rooms or home offices. For styling, I recommend layering items to create visual interest and using baskets or boxes on the lower shelves for a tidy look. Its understated industrial vibe makes it perfect for adding a functional yet chic touch to various spaces.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
