I really like this low-wide oak bookcase for its simple, unfussy lines and warm Sonama oak effect. It sits neatly under a window or TV, making it a great choice for living rooms, home offices or even bedrooms in a Scandi-inspired or contemporary scheme.
Styling-wise, mix upright books with a few laid-flat stacks to break up the visual rhythm, and tuck woven storage baskets or low profile boxes on the bottom shelf to keep clutter out of sight. A couple of small potted plants or decorative objects - think a ceramic pot or metal candleholder - add texture without overwhelming the neutral wood tone. As it’s freestanding, you can also lean a lightweight print or mirror against the back on the top shelf for extra depth.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
