Description

This stunning big Calathea houseplant is the perfect addition to bring the outside in and is sure to add unique style to your home office or living space. This Calathea is all about the leaves, also known as the prayer plant, their leaves are beautifully patterned, much like a painting we think! These stunning leaves close up at night, hence its nickname of prayer plant. This plant spends much of its life under the dense jungles of South America. The underside of the leaves is as interesting to look at as the top, so think about placing it somewhere where you can get a glimpse of both. It doesn’t want to be in full sunlight so indirect light will suit it fine. If you have pets, then the Calathea is a great plant to add to your collection as it’s pet-friendly too. As this is a natural plant from a mix, the variety of Calathea will vary from the photos shown. We think all of their patterns are beautiful! Please note: This plant and basket will come in separate boxes, you simply drop the plant in its growing pot, into the basket and it is ready for its forever home! The basket is sized to allow the growth of the plant. This beautiful big Calathea should be watered once every 7-10 days and we’d suggest you keep checking the soil especially during Summer to ensure it hasn’t dried out. A medium-lit spot with indirect light is perfect for these beauties – just be careful in the Summer months as they don’t love direct sun, as it can scorch their leaves. Treat him to a little mist every week or so to keep those leaves looking lush and don’t forget to dust them too! Trim off any discoloured leaves as they grow to ensure they look perfect and encourage new growth too! Don’t forget to keep them out of draughts and away from radiators. They’ll thrive in medium light and high humidity, so are perfect for a bathroom or kitchen H60 x W36 x D35 cm Caring for your plant Always follow the attached care instructions. Whilst this will give your plants the best chance of thriving, environmental factors will also play a big impact on your plant's life span such as exposure to sun and humidity. Please note: As plants are a live product, the dimensions and images provided are estimates only as each plant is unique. Our Stylist Says

I love how the little botanical calathea sits comfortably in its belly basket, making it a versatile piece for adding a touch of greenery to any space. It works particularly well in spaces where real plants might be tricky to maintain, such as kitchens or offices. Styling tips include placing it on a shelf, side table, or as a focal point on a windowsill for a natural, relaxed look. The basket adds texture and warmth, making it suitable for both modern and boho interiors. To enhance its impact, style it alongside other neutral-toned accessories or add a few small decorative objects nearby to create an inviting, layered vignette.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
