Description

With graceful curves, elegant piping and subtle buttonless tufting, the Ivy sofa is a chic choice that steps into playful territory with its iconic printed scatter cushions and retro colour palettes. Offering superior support that encourages you to stay, the seats benefit from foam filling and the back cushions feature quality fibre insides. Raised off the ground by slim splayed legs, the sofa gives a sense of space wherever it is placed, whilst oozing mid-century modern style. Equally sumptuous and stunning, the velvet upholstery enhances a range of interior looks, from classic to contemporary cool. Our Stylist Says

I love the Ivy Large Sofa for its timeless design and bold colour, making it a real statement piece in any living space. Its clean lines and substantial size lend themselves well to both contemporary and retro interiors, especially when paired with minimalist or mid-century furniture. Practical styling tips include balancing its vivid hue with neutral tones in your cushions or throws, like those bold floral cushions, to create visual interest without overwhelming the room. It works particularly well in open-plan living areas or a spacious lounge where it can be the centre of attention and complemented with sleek, understated accessories to let it shine.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
