Description

The size and distinctive organic shape of our Kalsi pendant light make it a true statement piece. This is enhanced by the beautiful lustre finish of the glass lamp shade and the metal fitting, finished in rich antique brass. The materials perfectly complement each other, adding further character and interest. Crafted from recycled glass which is expertly shaped into the finished product, this light looks particularly striking over a dining table or in an entranceway for a stylish first impression.

Our Stylist Says

I love this style of pendant light for its sustainable appeal and understated elegance. The Nkuku Kalsi offers a versatile look that works particularly well in rustic, boho, or industrial interiors, adding a warm, textured glow to both kitchens and living spaces. Practical styling tips include hanging it over a kitchen island or dining table to create a focal point, while pairing it with other natural materials like wood or linen keeps the aesthetic cohesive. For a contemporary twist, consider combining it with minimalist decor, allowing the glass's organic shape and subtle imperfections to stand out. Its large size makes it perfect for high ceilings or spacious rooms, ensuring it provides both ample light and visual interest.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
