Description

The Modi provides the perfect platform for stylish entertaining. Combining the beauty of reclaimed wood with hard-wearing metal, it offers a look that is both rustic and retro. Packed with character, thanks to the contrasting tones and textures of its wood, it has been given a saddle tan finish. This brings out its natural grains and knots and helps to highlight its unique appearance. Featuring flared legs with brass-finished tips, this desirable dining table is sure to get guests talking.

Our Stylist Says

The Modi fixed table top is a versatile piece that works particularly well in contemporary or Scandi-inspired interiors due to its clean lines and warm brown finish. I love how its understated yet stylish design can anchor a dining space without overwhelming it, making it perfect for both everyday use and more styled-up dinner parties. To make the most of this table, consider pairing it with a mix of modern and vintage dining chairs to add personality, or keep it streamlined with minimalist seating. Practical styling tips include adding a runner or placemats to protect the surface, and incorporating greenery or statement lighting overhead to create an inviting atmosphere. Its straightforward design and adaptable colour make it a great core piece that’s easy to update through textiles and accessories.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
