Description

Design. With a sharp silhouette, rich colour palette, and mixture of metal and wood, the Kriss side table is a mid-century modern marvel. Boxy in its shape, it has a very compact and refined feel, yet the inclusion of a drawer and an open shelf allow for plenty of storage, as well as a sense of space. The drawer front features a natural split, cleanly joined by a stylish brass cross that brings the whole look together and centres the eye. These angular lines are echoed in the table’s splayed legs, with a black finish that allows industrial edge to step in. Built from solid Acacia wood that is both stunningly versatile and incredibly durable, the Kriss side table is the only place your cup of tea will want to rest. Pairs beautifully with the coordinating Kriss coffee table.

Our Stylist Says

The Kriss Side Table, Natural is a versatile piece that works particularly well in both contemporary and mid-century inspired interiors. I love its warm wood tone, which adds a touch of natural warmth to any space, and the subtle drawer detail offers practical storage without cluttering the look. For styling, it’s ideal next to a sofa or armchair as a functional side table, and you can soften its modern silhouette with cosy textiles or a decorative lamp on top. Its compact size makes it perfect for smaller living rooms or bedrooms, where a balance of style and practicality is key. Keep accessories minimal for a crisp, clean finish, or layer with some favourite books or potted plants for a more personalised touch.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
