Description

This sturdy Buxton sideboard is made from high-quality oak veneer, solid oak and MDF. We love the design and tactile contrast of the painted doors, which feature a routed geometric pattern reminiscent of Bauhaus design. There's an open shelf section that can store books or display ornaments and it's accented with brass detailing for a touch of retro opulence. It's supplied flat-packed, but assembly is straightforward and all the tools you'll need are provided. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sideboard because it combines natural oak tones with a subtle grey, making it incredibly versatile for both contemporary and Scandi-inspired interiors. Its clean lines and tapered legs give it a sleek, modern feel without overpowering the space. It works particularly well in living rooms or dining areas where you want ample storage but still appreciate a streamlined look. For practical styling, consider balancing its design by adding a couple of curated decorative pieces on top, like vases or framed photos, and utilise the inner shelves for organising tableware or media essentials. Its understated elegance makes it a real staple piece that can adapt effortlessly to different interior schemes.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
