Description

Treat yourself to an ORIGINAL iconic piece by Cappellini. An original will never lose its value. It will stay with you for your whole life, and even longer, perfect for passing on to the next generation. Angiolo Giuseppe Fronzoni (1923–2002), more commonly referred to as AG Fronzoni, was a child of the modernism that formed in the aftermath of World War Two. In 1945, AG Fronzoni opened his own studio in Brescia, specialising in printing, graphic design, architecture, exhibition design, and industrial design. In mid-1960s, Fronzoni and Alessandro Mendini were responsible for the visual language and page layouts of one of the most influential architectural magazines around: Casabella. For Fronzoni, the vision of design had to be global: There is never a logic behind separating the various fields of design. Also, he took on architecture and object design, particularly furniture, graphic design and teaching with the same zeal. Formally, it delves into its roots in constructivism and Russian supremacy, and in a more visible way, into Bauhaus teaching, the Ulm School of Design, and Swiss graphic design. Avoiding the trap of becoming ensconced in a dogma, even if out of quest for conciseness and purity, extreme minimalism was used, yet always in the aim of serving mankind. In 1964, Fronzoni created a family of furniture pieces (table, chair, armchair and bed), all characterised by great formal rigour. These essential pieces are defined by straight, sleek lines. These furniture pieces are available exclusively in black and white: colours dear to the designer. Fronzoni considered black and white to be colours that represented mankind, an expression of opposition and reflection. Fronzoni's numerous projects reflect is idealisation of black and white: the rigour of the contrast of the black and white creates a sense of conceptual purity. An ode to sleek lines, the Fronzoni '64 tables embellish décors with their absolute rigour and essential elegance. They combine a metal, tubular square base and a lacquered wood tabletop with a matte finish. Austere and perfectly functional, the Fronzoni '64 tables are the ideal expression of the designer's vision, with geometry dominating over function.

Our Stylist Says

The Fronzoni ‘64 desk is a sleek and minimalist choice that works well in modern or contemporary interiors. Its clean lines and black wood finish make it versatile, pairing effortlessly with both neutral palettes and bold accents. I love how it balances form and function, providing ample workspace without feeling bulky-ideal for home offices or creative studios. Practical styling tips include keeping surface clutter-free with organised desk accessories and adding a cosy chair or a pop of colour through accessories to warm up the space. Its understated design also means it looks just as good in a professional setting as it does in a more relaxed, eclectic environment.
