Connect your floor and ceiling, in a sleek, innovative way, using a light strip. You can switch it on, off and adjust the brightness with a simple tug. This light strip not only lights up your home but will also enhance your décor with its colourful geometric design. The Elastica light consists of an elasticated band of coloured fabric that you stretch between the ground and ceiling. A flexible, integrated LED circuit illuminates the entire strip. The fabric strip attaches to the ceiling using the attachment bracket provided. At the floor level, the strip is held in place by a counterweight cylindrical base. To switch on, switch off or alter the light intensity, you just need to pull on the fabric strip. Give it a quick tug to switch on or off. Slowly pull down on the strip to dim and up to increase brightness. Central to the design is the natural interaction between the light and user. The sensors recognize an individual's instinctive gestures and coordinates them accordingly, turning the lamp on and off and adjusting the brightness. Innocenzo Rifino and Diego Rossi from Studio Habits describe the concept underlying the design of their Masticate light: "One evening we were working in our office fablab; we were swamped by huge numbers of prototypes that were being assembled for the Fuorisalone Super Studio event and, amongst these, there was one that caught our eye. We'd been trying to develop a fabric floor-ceiling light for a long time. We had spools of elastic that we used for the straps for the floor-to-ceiling prototype, and when considering how to exploit their mechanical properties, we thought that elasticity could become a metaphor for adjusting brightness in this innovative lighting design."
