Our Stylist Says

I love this cable knit throw for its cosy yet structured texture, making it a versatile piece for both casual and more polished interiors. The charcoal colour lends itself well to modern, monochromatic schemes, or can provide a sleek contrast in lighter, Scandinavian or rustic settings. Its Sherpa backing adds warmth and softness, enhancing comfort for loungewear or layered on a bed for added visual interest. For styling, drape it casually over a sofa or armchair for relaxed appeal, or fold neatly at the foot of a bed to introduce texture without overwhelming the space. It’s particularly effective in contemporary schemes but can also bring a cosy touch to industrial or farmhouse interiors.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
