I’m a fan of this salt oak five-shelf bookcase for its warm, neutral grain and clean lines - it slots easily into modern, Scandi-inspired or country-style rooms. The open shelves keep things airy, while the solid back gives enough support for books, art and plants without feeling too heavy.
For styling, mix books (vertically and in small stacks) with a few decorative pieces like potted greenery or ceramic vases, and use woven baskets on the bottom shelf for concealed storage. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
