I’m a fan of this wing-back velvet bed (often called the Aurora Chesterfield) because its deep button-tufting and gentle wings give a structured, finished look without feeling overly formal. The black velvet adds a subtle sheen and anchors a room, making it ideal for modern, art-deco or even industrial schemes where you want a touch of softness against harder materials.
Styling tip: keep bedding crisp and tonal - think dove-grey linens with a charcoal throw or a couple of jewel-coloured cushions for contrast. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
