Description

Design. Incorporating a range of functionalities in a stylish and neat way, the Urban Grey mid sleeper bed with pull out desk, chest and cupboard will make tidying up child’s play. Set at a parent-friendly height but with room underneath for plenty of storage, the bed maximises floorspace with its smart design. The solid wooden bed frame is finished in timeless white and grey, ideal for any colour scheme. Perfect for homework and creative activities, the desk rolls out from underneath the bed when required. A chest of drawers ensures there’s a place for every item of clothing, whilst the compact cupboard offersa suitable spot for toys.

Our Stylist Says

I love this bed because it combines functionality with a clean, modern aesthetic, making it a practical focal point in a child's room. The grey wood finish is versatile and works well in contemporary, Scandi, or minimalist interiors, particularly when paired with soft pastel shades or bold colour pops for accessories or bedding. The pull-out desk and cupboard make it ideal for compact spaces, offering useful storage and a workspace without cluttering the room, which is perfect for bedrooms that need to maximise every inch. Styling tip: keep the surrounding decor simple and add colour through textiles, artwork, or playful accessories to create a balanced, inviting environment that grows with your child.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
