Description

Set of 2 Candle sticks. These flower-shaped candle sticks are inspired by Maija Isola's iconic Unikko flower motif, the hallmark of Marimekko. It was designed in 1964, just after the founder of the Marimekko brand, Armi Ratia, had publicly proclaimed that she was banning floral motifs as outdated. Maija Isola challenged her by designing a series of floral motifs whose style was so innovative and fresh that Armi changed her mind. Ironically, the Unikko pattern became the brand's emblem. Founded in 1951, Marimekko is a state of mind, an art of living based on creativity, freedom of spirit and inventiveness. Its reputation dates back to 1960, when Jackie Kennedy made several public appearances in dresses by Marimekko. Since then, the brand has enjoyed enormous success, which continues today with a range of clothing and home accessories in vibrant colors. Our Stylist Says

I love the playful, yet modern feel of these ceramic candle holders, especially with their bold floral shapes. The blue and white colourway makes them versatile enough to fit in both Scandinavian-inspired and contemporary interiors. They work particularly well on minimalist dining tables, coffee tables, or shelves where they can be showcased as small pops of colour and pattern. For styling tips, try pairing them with neutral or wooden tones to let the design stand out, or combine them with other mid-century ceramics for a curated look. They're also a practical size for use as centrepieces or accent pieces, making them both functional and decorative.
