I love how this tall bookcase combines a slim black metal frame with warm oak-effect shelves - it brings a crisp, modern edge without feeling cold. It suits industrial-style lofts just as well as pared-back Scandi or urban contemporary schemes.
For styling, alternate stacks of books with sculptural pieces or woven baskets to break up the lines and keep it from looking too uniform. Use the top shelf for trailing greenery, mid-levels for your favourite reads and a mix of ceramics or framed prints, and the lowest shelf for practical storage boxes to hide clutter. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
