Description

Press is a medium-sized bowl designed and engineered to catch and refract light, and to last for ever. This heavyweight grooved bowl is made of fat, chunky coils of pure and clear transparent glass. Bold in silhouette and simple in function, it is manufactured by dropping big globs of molten glass at 1,200 degrees centigrade and pressed in two or three part iron moulds to create the immediately familiar silhouette.

Our Stylist Says

I love this press medium bowl for its sleek, minimalist aesthetic and versatile appeal. It works well in both modern and contemporary interiors, especially when used as a striking centrepiece on a dining table or sideboard. The clear glass makes it ideal for displaying small florals, succulents, or decorative objects, allowing light to pass through and enhance its geometric form. Practical styling tips include pairing it with textured textiles or metallic accents to create contrast, or layering it with smaller bowls or vases for an eclectic look. Its understated elegance makes it a flexible piece that can elevate everyday styling and special displays alike.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
