Design. The Timothy Oulton Side Saddle Chair features thoroughbred elegance mixed with a hint of the Wild West. Featuring a more upright version of the original Side Saddle Chair, it is quilted for comfort and upholstered in high quality Red Vagabond leather with a distinctive aged appearance. Our Stylist Says

The Timothy Oulton side saddle leather armchair is a fantastic statement piece that combines vintage-inspired charm with modern comfort. I love its bold red hue, which can add a pop of colour to more neutral interiors or complement a warm, eclectic space. It works particularly well in interiors that mix classic and contemporary styles - think industrial lofts, traditional country homes, or even luxe modern settings looking for a bit of character. For styling, consider pairing it with contrasting textures like soft throws or patterned cushions to soften its bold presence, or keep it as a stand-out accent in an otherwise subdued colour palette. Its timeless silhouette and quality leather make it versatile enough to work in both formal living areas and relaxed reading nooks.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
