Description
Design. Perfect for introducing carefree tropical vibes to any room. Postage stamps are beautiful miniature works of art in their own right, and this framed print of a Barbados stamp from the 1960s brings with it a warm feeling of nostalgia. There's something about vintage stamps that is so captivating - the romance of hand-written letters, the allure of far flung places, the excitement of the postman delivering news from a loved one.
Our Stylist Says
I love this plane stamp wall art because it adds a playful yet vintage touch to any space. It works particularly well in eclectic, aviation-themed, or traveller-inspired interiors, but also as a quirky accent in more modern or pared-back modern spaces. Practical styling tips include pairing it with other travel or transport memorabilia, or using it to bring a pop of colour on a neutral wall. It’s a great piece for adding character without overwhelming a room, and the black frame helps it to sit seamlessly within diverse interior schemes. Perfect for giving a room a sense of wanderlust and personality.

A Remarkable Journey
Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.
Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.
Sustainability at the Forefront
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons
Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.
They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
