I’m a fan of this grey shoe bench for its clean lines and clever mix of closed cupboards and open cubbies - it keeps boots and trainers tucked away but still to hand. The soft cushion on top means you can sit comfortably while you slip on your shoes, and the slim brass legs give it a subtle nod to mid-century style without feeling over-the-top.
It works equally well in a modern hallway or a more pared-back Scandi-inspired space. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
