The slats of the lampshade are interconnected by rings made of 'aircraft plywood', a very heat-resistant material used by the aviation industry. Wood is at the heart of this lighting collection that pays tribute to this noble material, making it adopt forms of a finesse never seen before, both clean and contemporary. This Secto wall lamp gives off a soft, warm light, diffused by the wood. Very aware of environmental issues, Secto Design gets its supplies of wood locally and recycles its waste as firewood, toys for nurseries or for carpentry schools. Each Secto Design lamp is manufactured with love and care by master carpenters passionate about their work. The 'authenticity' seal, a hologram label on the wooden lampshade, guarantees that the lamp is produced in an environmentally, ethically and socially sustainable manner in a modern, safe Finnish factory, respecting labour laws, tax laws and EU standards. The PEFC-certified birch used for Secto Design lights is grown in Finland, allowing short transport routes. Recycling and waste sorting are priorities throughout the manufacturing process and all wood waste is delivered to an energy recovery plant. The packaging, customised for each model, is made from locally produced eco-friendly cardboard. The use of plastics has been reduced to a minimum and alternative, greener materials are constantly being introduced. Every Christmas, Secto Design makes a donation to a charity. Employees suggest and discuss possible recipients and decisions are made by vote. In recent years, Secto Design has donated to the Malala Fund, Women's Bank, Scouts and Save the Children. Secto Design also sponsors a child in Nepal through Plan International.
