Description
Scarlet Emperor is an easy to grow variety of runner bean. It is a vigorous, twining climber grown as an annual, with bright green, heart-shaped leaves and orange-red flowers from early summer These are followed, from mid-summer, by straight, smooth, green pods up to 30cm long, eaten as runner beans while still immature. It is a reliable runner bean with heavy crops. Scarlet Emperor beans have a great fresh flavour and excess produce freezes well. Regular picking ensures a long harvesting period with a continued crop.
