The PM-02 lamp was designed in the 50s by the legendary American designer Paul Mc Cobb (1917 - 1969), widely recognised as a pioneer of contemporary democratic design. The PM-02 lamp embodies a minimalist expression with a resolutely Scandinavian style. Proving that the simple can be beautiful, it is made up of paired-down elements made from high-quality noble materials. The cylindrical lampshade made from mouth-blown frosted glass is mounted on a painted steel base. The lampshade gives off a diffuse and warm light. This lamp with compact dimensions does not take up much space: It can easily fit on the corner of a shelf, a bedside table, a bookcase, a window ledge, etc. Attention to detail, a simplicity in forms and practicality characterise the works of Paul Mc. Cobb. A realist and perfectionist, his creations clearly reflect his personality. It's an honest design that only contains essential elements. It’s a design where form follows function, intended to offer a practical solution to arrange your interior design while adding real beauty and timeless elegance. This table lamp is elegant in its simplicity, but it immediately draws attention to itself in a room.
I really like this lamp because of its clean, modern silhouette that pays homage to mid-century design while feeling very current. The PM-02’s black and white palette makes it versatile, easily complementing both minimalist and eclectic interiors. It works especially well in contemporary living rooms, offices, or bedrooms where it can act as a subtle statement piece. For styling tips, try pairing it with natural textures like wood or concrete for contrast, or place it alongside colourful textiles to add a modern touch. Its simple form and understated colour scheme ensure it can be integrated effortlessly into a variety of spaces, making it a practical yet stylish lighting option.
