Description

The PH 5 pendant lamp from Louis Poulsen emits a completely glare-free light both downwards and to the sides, which makes it a great lamp for the dining room table, for example. It's designed by Poul Henningsen and has three shades that mainly direct the light downwards, as well as another, trumpet-like shade at the top that lights the area above the three lower shades. A distinctive feature of this lamp is the small, coloured shades that have been added to provide the user with superior lighting comfort. The PH 5 version was developed in 1958, but the iconic three-shade system was designed by Poul Henningsen as early as 1925-1926 when, in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, he designed the first PH lamps for an exhibition in Paris. He used a scientific perspective, as the lamp is built on the basis of the logarithmic spiral, a mathematical curve that often occurs in nature and gives an even distribution over the entire curve of the shade. The numbers of PH lamps refer to the size of the shades and the letters come from the designer's initials. PH 5 is available in a range of colours so that you can find the one that fits your home. Metal versions are left untreated, so they will eventually have a beautiful patina. Do explore the wide range of PH lamps.

Our Stylist Says

This pink pendant lamp is a fantastic statement piece that brings a playful yet sophisticated touch to various interiors. I love it for its bold colour and unique layered design, which works especially well in contemporary, minimalist, or even eclectic spaces. It's perfect above dining tables or in an open-plan living area, where it can create a focal point. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral or pastel surroundings to let the colour pop, and keep other lighting subtle to allow the lamp’s design to shine. It’s also a versatile piece that can add a touch of whimsy to children’s spaces or a modern twist to more grown-up interiors.
