Displaying strange interlocking organic shapes, Paradox vases are halfway between art and design. The curved lines, simple and flowing, are inspired by outsider art and primitivism. The round, smooth shapes are interspersed with rough textured blocks. The unglazed matt finish accentuates shape and detail. The slightly irregular lines and roughness of the material highlight the raw aesthetic of this creation. Ceramicist, designer and internationally renowned interior designer, Jonathan Adler first became passionate about terracotta and exhibited his first pottery collection at Barneys in New York in 1993. "Earth is the basis of my work and always will be", affirms Jonathan Adler. For each ceramic piece from the collection, a prototype is made by hand in Jonathan Adler's workshop located in the achingly hip So Ho neighbourhood of New York.
