Description

Our Large Rustic pillar candle has a textured finish for a relaxed take on a classic shape and a calming sage tone in keeping with our seasonal colour palette. These were created specifically for our candle holders which are designed to hold a larger candle. They look beautiful on a sideboard or mantelpiece, in a living room or hallway or as the centrepiece of a table setting for a warm and welcoming scene.

Our Stylist Says

I love this nkuku candle for its versatile, earthy aesthetic that works beautifully in a range of interiors, from rustic farmhouse to modern minimalist. The sage green hue adds a calming, natural touch, making it an excellent choice for styled shelves, coffee tables, or even bathroom settings. Its large size (18 x 10 cm) makes it a statement piece, so I recommend pairing it with textured ceramics, woven trays, or brass accents to create a layered, inviting look. For practical styling, group it with smaller candles or greenery to enhance its calming effect, and place it in areas where you want to introduce a cosy, serene atmosphere without overcrowding the space.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
