Our Stylist Says

I love the nkuku Nila Esha Cushion Cover for its striking combination of rust and indigo, which adds warmth and colour contrast to a neutral palette. Its textured, handwoven look makes it ideal for relaxed, boho-inspired interiors, or as a vibrant accent in more minimalist or contemporary schemes. Practical tips include pairing it with solid-coloured cushions to highlight the intricate patterns, or using it on sofas and armchairs in living rooms and bedrooms to create an inviting, layered look. Its 50 x 50 cm size makes it versatile, so it works well for both larger sofas and smaller accent chairs. Overall, it’s a great choice for introducing visual interest without overwhelming the space, especially if you’re aiming for a curated, yet cosy feel.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
