Description

Our Kakra vase has sweeping curves and an understated aesthetic that give it an elegant, contemporary feel. It’s crafted from fully mouth blown recycled glass, a traditional method of glassmaking which has been used by artisans for centuries. This is perfectly illustrated by the vase’s beautiful organic shape and distinctive rim, which adds character and flair. A tactile pattern, hammered across the surface using traditional tools, completes the look and feel. Add to a side table or dresser for a stylish display.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Nkuku Kakra recycled glass vase for its simple, sustainable design and versatile size. Its clear, large form works well in modern, minimalist interiors or in homes with relaxed boho styles. It’s perfect for showcasing fresh blooms, dried grasses, or even standing alone as a sculptural piece on a side table or mantle. Practical styling tips include combining it with smaller vases for a layered look or pairing it with neutral textiles and wooden accents to enhance a natural, earthy vibe. Its recycled glass construction not only adds character but also makes it a mindful choice for eco-conscious spaces.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
