Description

The Hakeem textile wall art shines a light on the qualities of traditional kilims. This age old practice of weaving on handlooms is one of the oldest craft forms. The natural hemp and cotton fabrics are skilfully woven into this simple monochrome design, blending earthy natural dyes and interesting shapes to create an eye-catching piece. The Hakeem textile wall art is framed simply in a sustainable mango wood frame.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this Nkuku Hakeem textile wall art for its natural, textured appeal - it adds warmth and visual interest without overwhelming a space. It works particularly well in contemporary or Scandinavian-inspired interiors due to its neutral colour palette and organic feel. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with other natural materials like wood or woven accessories to create a cohesive look. It’s versatile enough to work in living rooms, hallways, or bedrooms, especially when hung above a sideboard or sofa to serve as a focal point. For a balanced display, keep surrounding accessories simple and let the textile piece stand out as a statement element.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
