Description

Our Dia lamp shade is crafted from natural jute, which gives it an appealing tactile quality and which softly diffuses the light to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Jute is a sustainable and durable fabric with minimal impact on the environment. The classic shape of this lamp shade and the neutral tones of the fabric make it a versatile and timeless product, suitable for a wide variety of interiors and stands. Pair with one of our table lamps or floor lamps for a stylish display.

Our Stylist Says

This Nkuku Dia jute lampshade is a great choice for adding a natural, textured element to a variety of interiors. I love how its neutral tone complements both modern and rustic schemes, making it versatile for living rooms, bedrooms, or even cosy reading nooks. It works exceptionally well when paired with warm lighting to enhance its earthy feel. Practical styling tips include layering with other natural materials like wood or linen and placing it on simple, understated bases to keep the focus on the shade’s handcrafted appeal. Overall, it’s a stylish yet understated piece that brings a bit of artisanal charm to any space.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
