Description

nkuku Tiwa Woven Jute Lampshade | Shades | Natural | Extra Large

Our Stylist Says

The nkuku Tiwa woven jute shade is a fantastic choice for adding natural texture and warmth to a variety of interiors. I love how its understated, earthy aesthetic complements coastal, boho, or rustic schemes, but it can also bring a tactile softness to modern or minimalist spaces when paired with sleek furnishings. The extra-large size makes it particularly impactful as a statement piece in living rooms or bedrooms, especially when positioned over a sideboard or within a gallery wall. Practical styling tips include layering with other natural materials such as wood or linen, and pairing it with warm or neutral lampshade bases to enhance its organic appeal. Its versatile, timeless look ensures it will elevate any setting with a touch of craftsmanship and subtle sophistication.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
