Description

The Birala large textured wall art brings a contemporary interpretation of traditional Indian design into the home. Its abstract motif, presented in calming pastel tones, lends a warm, organic aesthetic to any interior. The handwoven surface of this textured artwork introduces depth and texture, while the natural mango wood frame offers a sustainable and beautifully understated finishing touch.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wall art for its striking texture and versatile colour palette. The blend of natural and dark blue tones makes it a great focal point in both contemporary and boho interiors. It's particularly effective in spaces that benefit from tactile, handcrafted accents, such as cosy lounges or bedrooms. Practical styling tips include pairing it with neutral textiles to highlight its texture, or grouping it with other earthy accessories for a layered, curated look. Its large size ensures it makes a statement, so consider hanging it above a sofa or sideboard for maximum impact.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
