Description

With its gently curved silhouette and carved wooden frame, the Avanthi sleigh bench brings timeless style to any setting. Upholstered in soft linen, it adds both texture and elegance to hallways, living rooms, or the foot of a bed. A versatile piece that blends classic design with understated charm, it-s ideal for adding warmth and character to your space.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this bench because of its versatile yet stylish design. The upholstered seat adds comfort, making it ideal for use at the foot of a bed or as extra seating in a living or hallway setting. The sleigh shape brings a classic feel that can soften more contemporary interiors or complement traditional schemes. It works particularly well in cosy, neutral spaces where its charcoal colour can add depth, or in more pared-back interiors where you want a piece that offers both function and a subtle design detail. Practical styling tips include pairing it with throw cushions for extra comfort or layering with natural fibres and textiles to create a inviting, lived-in look. It’s a flexible piece that combines function with understated style.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
