Description
The Newington sofa bed in grey is a stylish yet functional design, transforming from a sophisticated sofa into a comfortable double bed in seconds. As a sofa its big plump cushions and deep seat guarantee the upmost comfort while its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces. Folding out into a bed using a simple 3-fold mechanism, it comfortably sleeps 2 people and comes complete with a sprung 7cm mattress. With a subtle tweed look, it’s upholstered in a wool rich fabric blended with polyamide and acrylic for increased resistance to wear and fading, making it ideal for busy homes. Newington is also available in other fabrics and colours. Getting a sofa into your home can sometimes be a bit of a squeeze, so be sure to read our Sofa Measuring Guide to ensure your dream design is compatible with your space
Our Stylist Says
The Newington Charcoal Grey Wool 3 Seater Sofabed is a versatile piece that balances practicality with understated style. I love its timeless colour and sturdy wool fabric, which adds texture and comfort, making it suitable for both contemporary and more relaxed interiors. It works particularly well in neutral or monochrome schemes, and can be dressed up with colourful cushions or throws for a cosy, lived-in feel. For smaller spaces, it’s perfect because it offers the dual function of seating by day and an extra bed by night, without compromising on style. Styling tips include pairing it with wooden accents or metal details for a modern look, and keeping accessories minimal for a sophisticated aesthetic.

The Birth of Habitat
In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.
The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.
Rapid Expansion & Legacy
Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.
The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.
Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.
Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
Innovation & Collaboration
Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.
Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
