Across southern Africa, the Batonga women of Zambia are well know for their basketry skills and unique designs. They use abundant natural fibers like palm leaves, wild twigs and creeping vines to craft functional pieces of woven art. Rich, earthy pigments are added with natural dyes made from bark and leaves. Each basket takes days to make and honors generations of artistic heritage passed from mother to daughter. Use this versatile piece for decorative storage or as part of your wall basket display. Measures 14 inches wide x 5.5 inches tall. This is piece is 100% hand-crafted and some variations may occur.
