Description

Designed by Tom Stepp for Mater, the Nestor Armchair in a sirka-grey stained and natural paper cord finish is exclusively available at The Conran Shop. Named after the Ancient Greek counsellor Nestor, who was 'the noblest and - implicitly the wisest', the chair's high-quality materials and Stepp's attention to detail reflect the esteemed advisor's persona. Exceptionally comfortable, the chair is ergonomically designed to fit the human body. The frame is crafted using FSC-certified beech wood with wide armrests and a curved backrest to provide superior comfort. The chair is finished with a woven paper-cord seat, referring back to traditional Shaker design.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair’s combination of refined design and natural materials, making it a versatile addition to many interiors. The grey and natural paper cord offer a subtle colour palette that works well in both modern and more traditional settings, especially if you're layering textures. It’s particularly suited to Scandinavian or minimal schemes, where its clean lines and understated elegance can shine, but it also pairs beautifully with rustic or boho styles thanks to the natural paper cord seat. For styling tips, consider combining it with a wooden or glass dining table to highlight its craftsmanship, and add cushions for extra comfort and visual interest. It's a practical choice that brings a calm, contemporary feel to any dining space.
