With its superimposed simple, architectural forms, Multi-Lite is typical of lights from the golden age of Danish design. Vintage and refined, this metal pendant is a reissue of the model designed in 1972 by Louis Weisdorf, a Danish designer and architect. Multi-Lite is endowed with remarkable functionality. Framed by a ring, the mobile lampshade changes shape and allows a multitude of different lighting options. The central part of the lampshade is fixed: it consists of two nested cylinders that contain the light source. Around the cylinders, the outer cupola consists of two half-spheres which pivot from top to bottom. These two moving parts can be moved independently of one another to obtain a multitude of configurations. In this way, you can direct the light downward (direct lighting) or upward (indirect lighting), or create a beautiful asymmetrical light effect.
The small pendant is a versatile, statement piece that works well in both modern and retro-inspired interiors. I love its modular and orientable design, which allows for customised lighting configurations, making it ideal for creating focused task lighting in kitchens or over dining tables, or a playful feature in living spaces. Its sleek silver finish and minimal form immediately bring a contemporary edge, but it can also complement more eclectic or industrial settings. Practical styling tips include grouping multiple pendants at different heights over a breakfast bar or experimenting with individual suspensions in a cluster for visual interest. Overall, it’s a practical yet stylish option for anyone seeking an adjustable, iconic light with a touch of nostalgia.
