Our Stylist Says

I love the twisted cable detailing on the Herringbone Twisted Cable Kit, Polished Nickel - it adds a subtle texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space. It's a versatile piece that works really well in contemporary or industrial-style interiors, but it can also add a modern edge to more classic settings. For styling, consider pairing it with minimalist pendant shades or even leaving it exposed for an edgy, unfinished look. Practical tips include keeping the cable length appropriate to your ceiling height to maintain a balanced look, and using its polished nickel finish to reflect light, brightening up the room effortlessly. It’s a sleek, understated choice that can elevate the overall aesthetic while offering flexibility in design.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
