The wild and rugged expanses of moorland habitats have been a rich source of inspiration to poets, playwrights and authors for generations. While they may at first glance appear desolate, in fact they support an array of specialist wildlife, from red deer and mountain hares to birds of prey such as hen harriers and merlins. Often dominated by heather, moorlands are also characterised by low-growing shrubs, grasses and bog-mosses often on damp peaty soils. Bog-mosses or Sphagnum form ‘living carpets’ that absorb vast amounts of carbon, so it is vitally important that we protect these habitats. Through our collection with the Natural History Museum, we want to draw attention to these incredible landscapes, treasured by walkers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. © The Trustees of the Natural History Museum, London 2025. Choosing your lining:* Blackout provides minimal light disturbance in your home making it perfect for bedrooms. * Thermal helps to keep the warmth in and the cool air out meaning it’s great for family rooms or lounges. * Our Standard Lining is perfect if you like the glow of natural light whilst your curtains are closed whilst still maintaining your privacy. Choosing your fitting type:* Inside the recess: this gives a tidy, snug finish as it’s made to fit your window exactly. * Outside the recess: this option is great if you don’t want the blind to be visible from the outside when it’s drawn up. Choosing which side you’d like the operating chain:* Think about where your blind will be situated and what furniture may be near it – choose the side that is easier for you to access. Child Safety:We add clips to the back of our roman blinds to attach the cords to the fabric. They also double up as a child safety feature. If pressure is exerted the clips will detach to prevent the risk of strangulation. Please read our [Blinds Safety Guide](https://www. dunelm. com/info/buying-guides/blinds-safety-guidance) for more information. If the clips detach accidentally during normal use, they can be easily re-clipped back into place. Please note: If your measured width is over 130cm your blinds may come with a fabric join to provide the full width required.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Moorland Velvet Made to Measure Roman Blind for its rich texture and deep colour, which add warmth and luxury to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in traditional living rooms or cosy bedrooms, especially when paired with complementary velvet cushions or throws for a layered look. This blind is versatile enough to suit both classic and contemporary styles - think dark woods or painted walls for a sophisticated vibe, or softer neutrals for a more relaxed feel. Practical styling tip: keep the surrounding decor simple to let the pattern and velvet texture stand out, and consider adding a blackout lining for better light control and privacy.
