Price History

Description

The Melt Mini Surface Light is a beautifully distorted lighting fixture with an integrated LED module. The Melt collection features an avant-garde design that undergoes a mesmerising optical transformation, shifting from a hyper-reflective mirror finish when off to a translucent, hot-blown glass effect with a rich depth when illuminated. Made in Germany using high-tech manufacturing, this striking series pairs cutting-edge engineering with organic form to manipulate light and reflection, creating a dramatic focal point.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Melt Mini as a versatile wall light that works well in contemporary and minimalist interiors. Its sculptural form and polished finish make it a statement piece when used to highlight abstract art, architectural details, or as a subtle bedside or corridor light. It’s practical and unobtrusive, adding a modern edge without overpowering the space. For styling tips, consider pairing it with other sleek lighting fixtures or placing it beside textured materials like concrete or wood to create contrast. It also works beautifully in low-profile configurations, where its understated elegance can be appreciated without competing with other design elements.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
