Released in 1996, the Maui chair was created by Vico Magistretti (1920-2006), a leading figure in post-war Italian architecture and design. The famous designer used to say of Maui: "The chair with the prettiest back in history. " Extremely solid and stackable, Maui is a versatile chair which responds to the most varied needs of organisations and individuals. It combines a polypropylene shell seat with varnished steel legs. The Maui chair is suited to the different demands of public places (offices, waiting areas, surgeries, bars, restaurants, conference and meeting rooms) but also those of private spaces (dining room, kitchen, a child's bedroom, an office).
This chair is a sleek, modern choice that combines functionality with contemporary style. I love how it’s versatile enough to suit a variety of interiors, from minimal and monochrome spaces to more eclectic dining areas. Its practical stackability makes it ideal for both everyday use and more frequent hosting, while the black plastic finish adds a clean, understated look that won’t overwhelm your décor. Styling tips include pairing it with a light wood table to add warmth or contrasting it with coloured accessories to make it stand out. It works particularly well in modern and urban interiors, but can also be seamlessly integrated into more eclectic schemes with the right accessories.
