I’m a fan of this slimlined “reeded console” for its neat proportions and subtle texture - the fine fluting across the drawers brings just enough interest without overwhelming a hallway or living room. Its matt-black finish and slim metal frame suit modern, industrial or Scandinavian-inspired schemes, but it can just as easily ground a richer, more traditional palette when teamed with brass accents or deep jewel tones. For styling, try a large round mirror above to soften the angles, add a pair of sculptural table lamps for height and balance, and tuck storage baskets underneath to keep clutter at bay. A couple of books and a simple vase or ceramic bowl on top will complete the look without masking the console’s pared-back appeal.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
