This Conran Shop-exclusive new edition of Eero Saarinen's Womb Relax Armchair in Scandinavian-grey sheepskin upholstery boasts a slick black chrome base and a padded fibreglass shell. Created in collaboration with Knoll, this icon of seating design doesn't compromise on practicality or brilliance. The comfortable, sculptural form of the Womb Armchair continues to be one of the most iconic and recognised representations of mid-century Scandinavian style, making it an ideal investment piece for both traditional and modern interior schemes. Refined for 2019 with Australian sheepskin, the unique and naturally curly wool is hard-wearing, doesn't attract dust and reduces friction for truly maintenance-free comfort. Originally designed in 1946, Florence Knoll's brief to Saarinen was to create a chair that felt 'like a basket full of pillows'. With this demand for superior comfort in mind, Saarinen designed the ergonomic, enveloping Womb Armchair and matching Ottoman.
