Keiji Takeuchi, who was born in Japan but is based in Milan, views simplicity as a form of sophistication. The shape, size and finish of the Lacquer pendant light is inspired by traditional, Japanese, lacquered bowls. The integrated LED light source is hidden behind a concave, polycarbonate diffuser which emits a uniform, high quality light. The Lacquer pendant light is available in 3 different sizes and colours: pale grey, dark black and red, which was the original colour inspiration.
I love this black lacquer pendant for its sleek and minimalist appeal, making it a versatile choice across various interiors. Its compact size and contemporary finish suit modern, industrial, or even Scandinavian spaces where clean lines and understated elegance are key. Practical styling tips include using it over kitchen islands or dining tables to create focused task lighting, or grouping a few at different heights for a dynamic look. It pairs particularly well with neutral palettes or contrasting textures, like concrete or wood, to emphasise its contemporary edge. Overall, it’s a stylish yet functional piece that adds a touch of modern sophistication without overpowering the space.
