Receiving appreciation for its innovative design, Componibili has been displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.

I’m a fan of the white Componibili tower for its clean, compact form and ultra-practical storage - four easy-slide drawers keep clutter hidden without taking up much floor space. The gloss finish and circular profile suit contemporary, Scandi-inspired or even retro-tinged rooms, and its modular nature means you can stack or separate units to fit different areas.
For styling, use it as a bedside or home-office organiser: top it with a small table lamp, a framed photo or a neat tray for keys and coins. In a bathroom it’s ideal for toiletries, while in a living room you can group two towers in contrasting colours for an instant graphic statement.

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.
Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
