Playing with paper, was the start of this project. If you fold a piece of paper you get a crisp edge, and if you bend it you get a gentle but tensioned curvature. I tried to fix the beauty of this natural phenomena as a chair. The name, KAI, is a Japanese word. Its pronunciation can be interpreted in several different meanings: KAI can be a "seashell". The oppositional two elliptical lines recall an opened seashell. KAI can be "comfort". KAI can be "meeting". KAI can be "answer". KAI can be "pioneer". Stackable chair with sandblasted stainless steel frame and seat in curved plywood with leather cushion (solded separately). If stacked, we suggest to put a protection on the leather cushion.
This chair is a sleek, contemporary choice that works well in modern and minimalist interiors thanks to its clean lines and understated elegance. I love how the black wood complements various colour palettes, adding warmth without clutter. It's also practical for smaller spaces, especially given its stackable design, making it easy to store when not in use. For styling, pair it with a simple, wooden dining table or a contrasting glass or metal top for an eclectic look. Adding a soft fabric cushion can increase comfort and introduce subtle colour accents, making it versatile from casual breakfast spots to more formal dining areas.
