Description

Designed by Swoon, made by us. With a shared commitment to exceptional design and quality, we've collaborated to create an exclusive furniture collection for the modern home. Built from a combination of high-quality timbers including acacia wood, our Franklin shelving unit has been made using marquetry techniques to create its distinctive, geometric facade. The cupboard doors have been cut at angles and then reassembled in a tessellated design that plays with light and shadows to highlight the variety of its natural wood grains. As well as an interior shelf, there are also six open shelves offering space to hold books or display your favourite treasures. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love how the Franklin unit’s mix of open compartments and hidden storage brings structure without feeling heavy. The dark brown finish and parquet-style doors sit nicely in mid-century, Scandi or contemporary schemes, adding warmth and a subtle graphic edge. For styling, balance out taller items - vases, framed prints or sculptural objects - on one side with stacks of books or magazines on the other. Tuck smaller bits and pieces behind the lower doors to keep the surfaces calm, and introduce a trailing plant or two to soften the lines.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
