Price History

Description

Designed by Swoon, made by us. With a shared commitment to exceptional design and quality, we've collaborated to create an exclusive furniture collection for the modern home. The Franklin cabinet uses marquetry techniques to create a tactile, geometric facade. Crafted from acacia wood that's been cut at angles and then reassembled, it plays with light and shadows in a tessellated design that highlights the variety of its natural wood grains. Brass-finished contrasting metal handles open the two doors to reveal two shelves inside, one divided. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Franklin cabinet for its warm acacia grain and subtle geometric front, which adds texture without overwhelming a room. It sits equally well in Scandi-minimalist schemes or more eclectic, layered interiors, where its mid-century legs and natural finish bring in an organic note. Styling-wise, keep the top simple - a low vase of dried grasses or a minimalist lamp plus a small stack of art books works well. Inside, use matching baskets or boxes to corral smaller items, and leave one shelf open so you can display a small selection of ceramics or glassware. Positioned under a gallery wall or beside a reading chair, it quickly becomes both useful storage and a focal point.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
