Description

Built with comfort in mind from high-quality and FSC-certified beech wood, our Seek chairs are upholstered in a soft boucle fabric for that extra touch of luxe. The height and gentle slope of the backrest will keep your back well supported and the seat is wide and deep with a plush foam filling. Together, this unique design means these chairs are slightly larger than conventional dining chairs and suitable for hours of continual use, whether you're working or just enjoying an extended dinner party. About our manufacturing partner This chair is FSC-certified. Our manufacturing factory is based in Italy, in a district where chairs have been manufactured since the end of 1800. It's among very few in the world that monitors its production process following an end-to-end cycle, that's completed according to strict FSC certification. This ensures the chair is responsibly made, from cutting the trunk to the finished product. By choosing this product you are supporting responsible management of the world's forests. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is a global, not-for-profit organisation that helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife that call them home. To learn more, visit fsc.org. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love these John Lewis dining chairs for their clean, timeless silhouette and FSC-certified beech wood, which adds an eco-conscious touch. They work beautifully in a variety of interiors, from Scandi-inspired schemes with neutral palettes and tactile textiles to more contemporary settings with sleek finishes. Practical styling tips include pairing them with a wooden or marble table to highlight their craftsmanship, or dressing them with colourful or textured cushions for a personalised, relaxed look. Their understated design makes them versatile enough to adapt to both everyday dining and more formal occasions, ensuring they remain a stylish and functional choice over time.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
