Description
A striking sunset by Mike Shepherd, with warming hues of pink and yellow bringing a sense of calm. Made in the UK, this canvas wrap print is mounted in a black frame, a deep frame that creates an elegant shadow gap around the picture. Arrives ready to hang on your wall. Mike Shepherd's beautiful photography aims to achieve a clear description of natural design and elemental simplicity in the landscape. He explores inner light, essence and ideal form. His images are simultaneously realistic and impressionistic. Born in London in 1964, Shepherd took up photography on his sixteenth birthday. A Lancaster University graduate, he came out with a first-class honours degree in Eastern art and architecture, going on to teach photography, digital imaging and digital art at the same university. After this, he embarked on his now full-time career as a landscape photographer, where he is strongly influenced by the American landscape monochrome tradition. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
Our Stylist Says
I really like the John Lewis Mike Shepherd 'Ebb & Flow' print for its vibrant colour palette and calming maritime theme, making it an ideal statement piece in living rooms or bedrooms. Its sizeable horizontal format works well above sofas or sideboards, adding a sense of width and openness to a space. This artwork is versatile enough to complement contemporary or eclectic interiors, especially those with pops of orange or other bold accent colours. For styling tips, consider pairing it with neutral or muted furnishings to let the artwork really stand out, and lean into coastal or relaxed themes with textured cushions or layered throws to create a cohesive look. It’s a piece that brings colour and a sense of tranquility, suited for those wanting to make a lively yet calming visual impact.

About John Lewis
A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion
John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.
Adapting to Changing Times
Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.
Commitment to a Greater Purpose
John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
